Corrosion protection from C1 to C5
Corrosion classes are used to describe how aggressive an environment is towards metal and what type of surface protection is therefore necessary. The classification goes from C1 to C5, where the load increases with the number. In many industrial projects, corrosion protection can also be supplemented with cathodic protection to achieve even more effective and long-lasting protection of metal structures.
C1
- C1 covers very dry indoor environments with minimal risk of corrosion, such as heated offices or warehouses.
C2
- C2 is used in environments with low corrosion load, typically unheated buildings or agricultural buildings with moderate humidity.
C3
- C3 is used in areas with medium corrosion exposure, such as urban environments or production rooms with a certain amount of humidity.
C4
- C4 is developed for environments with high humidity and air pollution, where metal structures require more robust protection in the form of C4 corrosion protection or modern coatings such as polyurea .
