Sponge Jet is an advanced method for surface treatment of metal surfaces before coating.
The method provides a particularly clean and rough surface while protecting the surroundings.
Sponge Jet are polyurethane sponges that are accelerated against the surface, where they clean and roughen. The sponges themselves typically have the blowing agent, such as aluminum oxide, encapsulated as small particles. The sponges blow cleanliness and roughness into the surface and absorb dust and impurities, so that the method develops minimal backlash and dust.
There are several types of Sponge Jet blasting agents depending on the cleaning needs and surface roughness. The fine types are typically used to remove oil and grease, soot and deposits. The intermediate types are typically used for general surface treatment, for example ISO 12944 industrial coating. The coarse types are typically used to remove high layer thicknesses,
The blowing agent is environmentally friendly because it weighs nothing and is therefore easy to handle, and because it can be reused up to 10 times.
Sponge Jet can be used advantageously indoors in industrial halls, on power plant blocks, or in tanks. This is due to the low dust generation, as well as the advantage that the blowing agent is easy to handle.
A Feed Unit is used to accelerate the blasting medium towards the surface, and a recycler is used to regenerate the used medium.
Sponge Jet is characterized by the following:
- Environmentally friendly blowing agent, easy to handle and can be recycled 10 times
- Provides the cleanest and roughest surface of all blasting agents on the market.
- Is particularly good at removing pollution as it is absorbed into the sponges
- Can be used indoors and in tanks
