Coating solutions for the Oil and Gas industry

Jakob Albertsen has worked with the Oil and Gas industry for more than 20 years and during that time has coated a large number of items and equipment, with the aim of protecting them against the harsh stress they are exposed to offshore.

The following items are advantageously coated on the inside with ceramic coating:

• Separators (Separators tanks)
• Deaerator tanks
• Drainage tanks (Closed Drian tanks)
• Filter tanks (Dual Media filters)
• Pipes (Spools)
• Valves
• Pig launchers and pig receivers
• Pumps
• Coolers

Most often there is a need to carry out the coating task on board the installation. Jakob Albertsen mobilizes its own employees to carry out these tasks. Equipment that can be brought onshore for inspection, service and renovation or new equipment, is coated either at one of our workshops or in collaboration with another subcontractor.

For structures, ISO 12944 industrial coating is often used. A distinction is made between below the waterline and above the waterline. Below the waterline, strong epoxy coatings are used and in the splash zone, even stronger, typically glass-reinforced polyesters. Above the waterline, coatings according to C5M or CX are often used, typically a zinc-rich epoxy, a barrier epoxy and UV-resistant topcoat, for a total layer thickness of at least 300 microns.

For internal coating of production facilities, ceramic coatings are often used, as the corrosive and chemical load is high. The choice of coating type is based on the need for resistance to media, temperature, wear and chemicals.
